How to Cut threads on a manual lathe machine?

1. Straight-forward method: general thread, small pitch, and fine-pitch thread can all use straight-forward method! The machining method is to cut the thread by dividing feed (diameter direction) without changing the Z axis (axial direction) of the tool during the machining process.

2. Left and right feed method: For machining parts with large pitch, multi-thread and other parts, because the machining surface is too wide, the contact surface is large. If the straight-forward method is used, it will have a great impact on the machine tool, cutting tool, and workpiece, and even cause the phenomenon of knife punching, knife sticking, lathe boring and so on. Therefore, only the left and right feed method can be used to complete. The processing method is to process one side of the thread, finish processing the other side, and finally polish the two sides and the bottom surface.

3. The oblique method and the oblique method are used for thread turning. The small slide plate can only be used for micro-feeding in one direction (left or right), which is easy to operate and will not make mistakes. It can avoid the phenomenon of double-sided cutting and tying, and can make the flank smooth, and improve the thread quality and production efficiency.

What are the types of lathes?

1、General lathe
The processing object is wide, and the adjustment range of spindle speed and feed is large, and it can process the inner and outer surface, end face and inner and outer thread of the workpiece. 2、Turret and rotary lathe

3、Automatic lathe

4、Multi-cutter semi-automatic lathe
There are single-axis, multi-axis, horizontal and vertical lathes. How To Use A Manual Lathe?——Precautions for safe operation of lathes

  1. Before working, lubricate the machine according to the regulations, check whether the handles are in place, and open the slow running for five minutes to confirm that everything is normal before operation.
  2. The chuck chuck should be firm, and the wrench should not be left on the chuck or chuck when the machine is turned on.
  3. The workpiece and tool should be firmly clamped, and the tool bar should not be extended too long (except for boring); rotate the small tool holder to stop, to prevent the tool from colliding with the chuck, workpiece or cut hands.
  4. When the workpiece is running, the operator should not stand facing the workpiece, not leaning on the lathe and not stepping on the oil pan.
  5. When cutting at high speed, chip breaker and blocking screen should be used.
  6. It is forbidden to backbrake at high speed, and the retreat and parking should be smooth.
  7. To remove iron chips, apply brush or special hook.
  8. With a file to light the workpiece, the right hand must be in front, the left hand in the back; with sand cloth to light the workpiece, to use hand clamps and other tools to prevent strangulation.
  9. All in use work, measurement, cutting tools should be placed in the vicinity of the safety position, to achieve neat and orderly.
  10. The lathe is not stopped, it is prohibited to take the workpiece or measure the workpiece on the lathe head.
  11. When the lathe is working, it is forbidden to open or remove the guards.
  12. Near the end of the work day, the lathe should be cleaned and wiped, and the tailstock and skate box should be retired to the rightmost end of the bed.
